Drillbench

Dynamic Hydraulics and Dynamic Well Control with Drillbench

DRILLBENCH FULL IMMERSION:
DYNAMIC HYDRAULICS + DYNAMIC WELL CONTROL

This 3-days course gives an introduction to the capabilities of the Drillbench Dynamic Hydraulics and the Drillbench Dynamic Well Control modules and will make the students capable of executing realistic dynamic simulations for hydraulics and well control situations.

This course comprises of a mixture of lectures and hands-on exercises to make the student understand the various challenges with drilling hydraulics and well control operations. The course will be broken down into two parts. The first part of the course will deal with dynamic hydraulics simulations. It will starts with an introduction to well hydraulics, and is then followed by a number of exercises starting with a simple vertical onshore well to show candidates how to calculated bottom hole pressures, equivalent circulating densities, static densities and the influence of temperatures in a well. This will progress into more complex wells including subsea, deep-water, horizontal and extended reach wells. For all of these examples wellbore pressures, wellbore temperatures and hole cleaning aspects will be addressed.

The second part of the course will deal with the aspects of dynamic well control. This part starts with an introduction into well control and is then also followed with a number of exercises using the software to demonstrate how the model can be used to deal with well control aspects and obtain the results. The well control part also starts with a simple vertical onshore well and then progresses into the more complex well types.

At the end of the course the candidates will be familiar with the data input and the execution of the dynamic simulations and will have gained significant insight into the complexity of dynamic hydraulics and well control simulations.

This course is useful for all drilling and completion engineers and other professionals interested in exploring the uses and capabilities of dynamic hydraulics and well control software. No previous experience with Drillbench is necessary, but a general knowledge and understanding of drilling operations and a basic knowledge of well control is an advantage.

This course is equivalent to the Drillbench Dynamic Hydraulics & Dynamic Well Control separately.
